Calm/Storm is a boutique venture capital firm and exclusive founder network, investing in super-early-stage technology startups. We invest in purpose-driven founders, focusing on the super-early-stage. We are the most active early stage healthtech fund in Europe.

How we work

We are a small fund with a very small team where everyone plays an equally important role and contributes to the success of the fund as a whole. We are on the lookout for great additions to our team and welcome those who feel like entrepreneurs and are not afraid to get involved in anything a fund needs: from marketing and ops to research and investing. We work partly remote, having the opportunity to organize our work and lives according to individual needs such as child care or activities in sports or arts.

Who we are looking for

As we are a small fund every team member plays an active role in investment transactions from start to finish. Currently we are looking for an Intern to join us for a period of 6 months. We are happy to consider a variety of profiles, with or without experience in venture capital. We welcome people with a background in health, finance, consulting, venture building, professional sport or any other industry. No matter if you want to break into venture capital or you consider yourself as an experienced veteran of the startup ecosystem, you must be fluent in English. And it helps if one of the following is true for you:

  • You are a student or have recently graduated and ideally you have first work experience in a tech-related field
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to make a difference
  • You are passionate about digital solutions, considering yourself a digital native
  • You are a communication talent, have experience in marketing or community building
  • You are purpose driven with the willingness to make the world a better place
  • You have some operational experience or have worked at an Accelerator, Venture Builder or a VC fund
  • You are self-motivated and able to work autonomously with little supervision
  • You have a baseline knowledge of the European tech ecosystem and VC industry

What you might be doing (depends on the individual profile)

Depending on the individual profile and your seniority, you will help (1) invest in super-early-stage startups, (2) work with portfolio companies or (3) learn how a fund is setup and managed.

In addition you will engage in the following activities:

  • Help with managing internal and external dealflow
  • Draft internal documentation, track and report on our KPIs
  • Conduct market research, landscape analysis and deep-dives and turn it into content
  • Represent the fund at conferences and events, actively engaging with industry leaders, accelerators, incubators, investors, and entrepreneurs
  • Screen and research relevant entrepreneurs & startups to the fund’s investment hypothesis
  • Help with managing core projects e.g. our founder community (Academy)

Where you would work

We have a preference for being based in Vienna, however there is the opportunity to work partly remote from anywhere within +/- 2h of CET time zone.
