Born in Neuss in 1976, Dilek is a cardiac surgeon and an expert in the field of artificial heart implantation. After completing her studies, she worked as an assistant, specialist, and senior physician in cardiac surgeon Prof Reiner Körfer's team. In 2012, she was the first woman in Europe to implant an artificial heart in a human, and in 2019 she was named Medical Doctor of the Year. She is currently planning to set up a private clinic for heart surgery in Mönchengladbach.
