Maximilian Marek joined Calm/Storm as a Visiting Analyst, bringing a finance and sustainability lens to venture capital with a strong grounding in impact investing and startup operations. At Calm/Storm, Maximilian is especially supporting Paul Varga with the Austrian Founder Fund, while he is completing an International Master in Finance at Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE), specializing in sustainability and supported by a Nova SBE Merit Scholarship, after earning his Bachelor in Business and Economics at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), where his thesis examined the role of impact investing in a just transition. Maximilian has built experience across renewable energy growth at Enpal, impact private equity at Trill Impact and investment management work at FUNKE Mediengruppe, alongside earlier business development work at the PropTech startup Realcube. He has helped shape student investing communities as Head of PropTech, UrbanTech and Smart Cities at Innovis VC and as part of the events team at Nova Venture Capital and Private Equity Club (Nova VCPE), including organszing the largest student-organized private equity event in southern Europe. In his free time, Maximilian enjoys basketball, padel and skiing and has a longstanding interest in behavioural economics, foreign affairs, and science fiction movies.
